Freedom isn’t just about physical independence—it’s about living without emotional, mental, and spiritual chains that keep you from fully stepping into your purpose. Sometimes, these chains are easy to see, but more often, they’re hidden beneath our thoughts, fears, and past experiences.
Have you ever felt trapped?
Trapped by your
• past mistakes,
• by self-doubt,
• by expectations,
• in a job that you hated,
• in a mindset that says you are not
enough?
If I took a poll, I am sure that many of us
would answer:
yes, there has been a time in my life when I
felt trapped.
Maybe that time for you, is now.
For years, I lived trapped in that prison of
shame, guilt, fear, and self-doubt.
I believed that my past defined me and that every mistake was another lock on the door keeping from my true purpose.
But TODAY, I AM FREE.
Not because my past changed, or my current circumstances miraculously turned around or doors magically opened for me but because my perspective changed.
I realized that the key to my freedom was
grace.
Grace can set you free too but the first step is recognizing the chains that keep us stuck.
Common Chains That Keep Us Stuck
🔗 Fear: The voice that convinces you to stay small, play safe, and never take a risk.
🔗 Guilt: The feeling that you don’t deserve joy or success because of past mistakes.
🔗 Shame: The belief that your past defines you, making you feel unworthy of a new future.
🔗 Perfectionism: The never-ending chase for flawlessness that leaves you exhausted and unfulfilled.
🔗 People-pleasing: Living for the approval of others, even at the expense of your own needs and dreams.
How to Recognize and Break Free
1️⃣ Self-Awareness: Ask yourself, “What
thoughts or patterns keep showing
up in my life?”
2️⃣ Challenge the Belief: Is this
fear/guilt/shame actually true? What evidence do I have?
3️⃣ Reframe Your Mindset: Replace
limiting beliefs with empowering
truths.
4️⃣ Take Action: Small, intentional steps
lead to lasting freedom.
Breaking free requires grace. It requires us to look back at our past, not with shame but with grace.
We must give ourselves the grace we would give our bestie, sister, brother, or other loved one.
To truly break free we must also give grace. This one is tough because it requires us to also look back and give grace to those who hurt us or impacted our lives in a way that amplified the chains we carry.
Lastly, freedom requires us to look back and see where grace held us up. Times we should have broken but didn't, fallen apart but stayed held by grace, or fallen for the last time but grace gave us the strength to rise again.
Then, we must take all this grace and use it as fuel to move us forward.
